Sport Burnaby congratulates the Vancouver Rise FC as the team becomes the Northern Super League’s playoff champions

The Northern Super League (NSL) first championship goes to the Vancouver Rise FC – the team that plays its home games at Burnaby’s Swangard Stadium.

The Rise won the 2025 NSL Final presented by Toyota, defeating AFC Toronto 2-1 on Saturday, November 15 to take the title and the Diana B. Matheson Cup in the league’s first season.

“We opened the very first game in NSL history, and tonight we close the season as its first champions,” said Vancouver Rise FC President Sinead King. “It’s a full-circle moment that reflects the belief, hard work, and heart of everyone at Vancouver Rise FC. I’m so proud of this team and equally proud of what the Northern Super League has built in year one.”

“We congratulate all the players, coaches and staff of the Vancouver Rise for their impressive victory and season, and for all the excitement they brought to the local fans for each game at Swangard Stadium,” said Robyn Hughes, Director of Sport Burnaby. “We can’t wait for the team’s second season in Burnaby and to continue our partnership with Rise FC.”
