Article Summary

The Vancouver Rise FC has made the playoffs in the first season of the Northern Super League (NSL).

“We are thrilled to be a supporter of the Vancouver Rise in the team’s inaugural season at its home in Burnaby’s Swangard Stadium,” said Sport Burnaby Director Robyn Hughes. “Fans from Burnaby and the Lower Mainland have been filling the stands in the stadium since the start of the season creating an electric atmosphere.”

Sport Burnaby and Tourism Burnaby are proud partners of the Vancouver Rise.

“With the support of the local partners such as Sport Burnaby, our team has been able to establish a strong connection with the City of Burnaby and create lasting ties within the broader Lower Mainland,” said Rise FC President Sinead King. “This was our first year and we’re looking forward to building on these relationships to support and integrate with communities.”

What’s next – a playoff game at Swangard!

Now that the Vancouver Rise have secured a playoff spot, the team will face one of AFC Toronto, Ottawa Rapid FC or Montreal Roses FC in the semifinals that will take place in the first two weeks of November. With Rise FC currently in fourth place in the Northern Super League, the focus now will be to secure the highest-place finish possible with the remaining three games of the regular season. The format will see first place versus fourth and second place versus third. This means the Rise will have one playoff game as Swangard.  Should Rise FC get past their opponent in the semifinals, the team would travel to Toronto to participate in the first NSL Playoff Final presented by Toyota on November 15 at BMO Field.
