What We Do
We work across marketing, partnerships, events, and research to grow Burnaby as a destination and support a visitor economy that benefits businesses, communities, and the city as a whole.
Our Role as a Destination Management Organization
Tourism Burnaby is a non-profit destination management organization focused on growing the city as a place to visit, meet, and explore. Our work supports a strong visitor economy while helping shape how Burnaby is experienced, both by visitors and the people who live and work here.
We take a coordinated approach to tourism, working across marketing, partnerships, event development, and research. By bringing together local businesses, community partners, and industry stakeholders, we help build a destination that is well-positioned, competitive, and reflective of Burnaby itself.
At the centre of Metro Vancouver, Burnaby offers a unique balance of urban energy and natural space. Our role is to strengthen that position, supporting experiences that attract visitors year-round while ensuring tourism continues to create value for the community.
“The role of tourism in Burnaby extends far beyond visits to the city; it supports our local economy, small businesses, and the vibrancy of the community. Tourists coming to Burnaby are helping us set the foundation for the next generation of our city, and we look forward to welcoming visitors in the coming months and years.”
Tourism is a key economic engine for Burnaby, supporting local businesses and advancing strategic initiatives that shape our city’s future,” says Angie Whitfield, CEO, Burnaby Board of Trade. “One great example is the Burnaby Clean Energy Summit, which began as a half-day session and has expanded into a multi-day event thanks to our partnership with Tourism Burnaby. Initiatives like these not only draw international attention and investment but also reinforce Burnaby’s leadership in innovation and sustainability.
As a small business, welcoming visitors to our brewery is something we cherish. Over the years, we have had the opportunity to collaborate with Tourism Burnaby to host long-table dinner events and seasonal activations to add to the visitor experience. These events have been attended by everyone from locals to visitors from across Canada and beyond.
Tourism is one of Burnaby’s biggest economic drivers. Here’s the proof.
From local businesses and jobs to community services and city revenue, tourism touches more of Burnaby than most people realize. This video breaks down the numbers and shows what a thriving visitor economy actually looks like on the ground.
